Food truck rental for parties.

A staffed, permitted truck for a birthday, a wedding, or a backyard that has outgrown a barbecue. From $1,500 for the day, with the parking and the paperwork handled.

The format works because nobody has to sit down at the same time. Guests eat when they are hungry, the queue is part of the party, and no one you know ends up plating food in a kitchen.

Planning a wedding? The timings, the venue rules, and the booking window are different enough that we gave it its own page.

Birthdays & milestones

A truck turns a backyard or a rooftop into the venue. No catering hall, no seated service, no one stuck plating in a kitchen.

Weddings & receptions

Late-night service after the formal dinner, or the whole reception if you want the day to feel less like a banquet.

Graduations & block parties

High headcount, long window, everyone eating at different times. The format a truck is genuinely best at.

Corporate & office parties

Holiday parties, summer outings, and team days where the truck parks at the office and serves through lunch.

Bar & bat mitzvahs

A second food moment that the teenagers will actually queue for, running alongside the main catering.

Anniversaries & house parties

Small, private, and outdoors. The lightest-lift version of the format.

Headcount, timing, and the day itself.

Two numbers decide almost everything about a party booking: how many people, and how long you want the window open. Here is how they play out.

01

Headcount sets the truck count

One service window feeds one line. Around 150 guests over a three-hour window is comfortable for a single truck; past that you want a second window rather than a longer party.

02

Service is 2–4 hours

Most private parties run a 2–4 hour service window inside a single day rate. Opening the window longer costs food, not truck time.

03

The truck arrives early

Plan on the truck being on site 60–90 minutes before service to park, level, connect power, and heat up. That window is not service time.

04

Book 2–3 weeks out

Two to three weeks is comfortable. Peak Saturdays between May and September go first, and December fills early.

What your venue needs.

Less than people expect. You do not need to solve the parking or the permit before you get in touch — that is the part we do.

Somewhere legal to park
A driveway, a lot, a private plaza, or a permitted stretch of curb. We scout and permit it — you do not need to solve this before calling.
Power, or not
Trucks run on their own generator by default. If you would rather it were quiet, shore power from the house or venue is usually possible.
Roughly level ground
A steep or soft surface is the one thing that can genuinely stop a truck serving. Grass is usually fine; a 15% slope is not.
A headcount and a window
The two numbers that decide everything else. Rough is fine at the enquiry stage.

A truck, or catering?

Per-head catering is usually cheaper on paper for a private party — $12–$25 a head, so roughly $1,200–$2,500 for a hundred guests. That number excludes staffing, permits, and insurance, and it assumes a seated or buffet service where everyone eats at once.

A truck is a different shape of event. It costs more, it handles its own staffing and paperwork, and it turns the food into something people stand around rather than sit down for. If the party is formal and seated, book catering. If the party is the kind where people drift, queue, and go back for a second round, book the truck.

We will tell you which one your brief actually wants, including when that answer is “not us”.

Party rental FAQs

How much does it cost to rent a food truck for a party?
A staffed, permitted food truck for a private party starts at $1,500 for the day and runs to $9,000 depending on headcount, menu, and location. That covers the truck, the operator, trained service staff, permits, and insurance.
How does it work to rent a food truck for a party?
Send your date, rough headcount, and where the party is. We scope the truck and menu, quote within 48 hours, then handle permitting, insurance, and parking. The truck arrives 60–90 minutes early, serves your window, and leaves.
How many people can one food truck serve at a party?
Around 150 guests over a three-hour service window is comfortable for one truck. Above that, a second truck beats a longer window — one service window can only move one queue, no matter how long you leave it open.
How many guests can one truck serve?
One truck means one service window and one line. A single truck handles a party of roughly 100–150 comfortably across a normal service window. Past that, or when everyone has to be fed inside a tight slot, we add staff or a second truck rather than stretch the menu. Tell us the headcount and the window and we will size it to both.
Do we get to choose the menu?
Yes. Menus are built to the crowd and the occasion, and dietary requirements are straightforward if we know the numbers in advance. If you have a chef or a fixed menu in mind, the truck can run yours instead.
Can a food truck park at a private house?
Usually, yes. A driveway or a flat stretch of private ground is ideal. If the only option is the street, that needs a permit — which we handle, but it is the part that most affects how far ahead you need to book.
How far in advance should I book a food truck for a party?
Two to three weeks is comfortable. Peak Saturdays from May to September and most of December book out first, so if your date is fixed and falls in those windows, earlier is materially better.

Got a date in mind?

Send the date, a rough headcount, and where it is. We’ll come back within 48 hours with a number and whether the date is open. Serving NYC + Long Island, New Jersey & Connecticut.
