2026 Price Guide

How much does a brand activation cost?

A brand activation costs from $10,000 for a wrapped, staffed, permitted truck for a day in New York, rising to around $45,000 with a heavy build and a premium location. An unbranded sampling truck runs $1,500$9,000 a day. Multi-day runs and multi-city tours start at $50,000.

Those are our published rates, not a survey. Most brand activation pricing online is either a project fee that hides the parts or a day rate that leaves the parts out. This guide does the opposite: the number by format, then the number by line item, then what pushes it up or brings it down.

If the question is a food truck for an event rather than a branded activation, the food truck rental cost guide covers dry rental, catering, and full-service tiers.

What the number is made of.

A branded quote has five parts. Knowing them is how you compare two quotes that look nothing alike.

Vehicle, operator, and service staff
Inside the day rate, from $1,500
The truck does not rent without its operator. Staff are booked for a shift, not an hour, which is why there is no hourly rate.
Custom truck wrap
$5,000–$15,000+
Full or partial. A one-time cost, reused across every day of a run.
Permitting, insurance & location scouting
$1,000–$5,000+
Included in full-service activations. Varies by location and requirements.
Additional trucks
Quoted per truck
For larger headcounts or multi-site coverage on the same day.
Product or catering
Quoted to headcount, or supplied by the brand
If the activation samples your product, you supply it and the food line drops out. If the truck feeds people, the menu is priced per head.
Reporting
Included in campaigns
Transit impressions, footfall, samples or units, and earned media, reported so the activation can be defended internally and repeated.

What moves the number.

Pushes it up

The wrap
Design, print, and install is the largest single line in a branded quote and adds one to two weeks. It is bought once, so it hurts on a single afternoon and barely registers across a week.
A retail fit-out
Shelving, fixtures, lighting for product, and payment at the window make a heavier build than a service window, and a different permit.
Manhattan curb and private plazas
Dense-city permitting, a certificate of insurance for a plaza or forecourt, and a scouted legal spot cost more than a lot in the suburbs. Budget $1,000–$5,000-plus.
Peak dates
May through September and December are when trucks, staff, and permits are scarcest. The same brief in February costs less and moves faster.
Short notice
Under three weeks for a branded build means paying to jump a queue that is already full, if the wrap can be produced at all.

Brings it down

A partial wrap
Door panels and a window surround photograph nearly as well as a full wrap for a fraction of the material and labour.
A run instead of a day
Three days at three locations cost less per day than one Saturday and reach three audiences. The wrap is amortised; the staffing is not.
Bringing your own product or menu
If the truck samples what you make, or a partner brand supplies the menu, the food line drops out of the quote entirely.
A neighbourhood, not a corner
Naming an area rather than an address lets us scout for the spot that is legal, cheap, and busy instead of only the first two.
Off-peak dates
January through March and any weekday are materially cheaper across trucks, staff, and permits.

Why quotes look so different.

Three agencies will quote the same brief three ways. One quotes the vehicle by the day and lists the wrap, the permits, and the staff as extras, so the headline is low and the invoice is not. One quotes per head, as if the activation were catering, which it partly is. One quotes a project fee that folds in strategy and creative and never shows the parts.

None of those is dishonest, but they cannot be compared until each is made to answer the same question: is the wrap inside the number, is the permit inside the number, is the staff inside the number, and who is finding the spot. Our day rate includes all four. Wrap and catering are quoted separately, so you are not paying for either unless you want it.

Brand activation cost FAQs

How much does brand activation typically cost?
A single-day brand activation on a wrapped, staffed, permitted truck in New York typically costs $10,000 to $45,000. An unbranded staffed truck for sampling runs $1,500 to $9,000 a day. Multi-day runs and multi-city tours start at $50,000. Agency-built installations and stunts are quoted to the brief and sit above these bands.
How much does experiential marketing cost?
It depends on the format. On a vehicle, the bands above apply: from $1,500 a day unbranded, from $10,000 a day branded, from $50,000 for a campaign. A built installation or a leased pop-up space is quoted to the brief and usually sits above a truck for the same reach, because the truck brings its own venue and its own signage.
What is the biggest line item in a brand activation?
For a branded activation, the wrap, $5,000–$15,000+ for design, print, and installation. It is also the line that changes least across a run, because it is paid once. For an unbranded sampling day, the largest line is the staffed vehicle itself.
How much should I budget for a product launch activation?
For a single launch day in New York on a wrapped truck, plan on $10,000 to $45,000 depending on the wrap, the location, and whether the truck serves or sells. For a launch week across several locations on one build, plan from $50,000 and expect the per-day cost to fall across the run.
Is a brand activation worth the cost?
Measured the way a media buy is measured, a wrapped truck earns impressions in transit and on site, sidewalk footfall, samples or units, and earned media, on a published day rate. Whether it is worth it depends on the goal being named before the day. An activation with no number attached is a photo shoot.
Why do agencies quote brand activations so differently?
Because they are quoting different things. One quotes the vehicle day rate and leaves permits, staff, and the wrap as extras. Another quotes per head as catering. A third quotes a project fee that includes strategy and creative. Ask every quote the same question: is the wrap, the permit, the staff, and the spot inside the number or outside it.
