The activation
At the height of the COVID-19 outbreak in New York, we deployed five trucks from our fleet with World Central Kitchen and Chef José Andrés — serving hospitals and makeshift morgues, and feeding the first responders holding the city together.
Across the effort, the trucks provided more than 100,000 free meals. It is the clearest proof of what the format is for: when a city needs feeding at scale and at speed, a fleet of kitchens that can move to the need does what a fixed location cannot.
